Meet Dr. Farrell
Jennifer Farrell, Ph.D., calls herself a “curious therapist” who encourages clients to share their stories with her because the past often holds the key to the future.
Authenticity is Key
Throughout Dr. Farrell's career, she has held herself accountable for being truly authentic, especially when it comes to therapeutic relationships. She leads people through a process of self-discovery that at times may be a bit uncomfortable or challenging. But Dr. Farrell always keeps kindness, compassion and most of all, authenticity, in the forefront.
Dr. Jennifer Farrell didn’t set out to work in the field of psychology, but after earning an undergraduate degree in anthropology and comparative religion, she landed a job at an inpatient psychiatric hospital. At that point, she realized how meaningful working in the mental health field was and felt like psychology chose her. She quickly refocused her attention toward a lifetime commitment of helping people reach their personal goals.
Healing Begins with Relationships
Dr. Farrell believes that how we feel about ourselves and each other is shaped in large part by our past relationships. They have taught us about trust, expectations and even self-worth. Relationships can build us up or tear us down. By understanding them, we can better rewrite our own narratives and move forward with confidence and purpose. A therapeutic relationship with Dr. Farrell may help you along this journey.
Working through Kindness Counseling, Dr. Farrell relies on an integrative approach to meet clients' individual needs. Using principals from psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral and other evidence-based therapies, she begins by earning her clients' trust so she can help them explore the root causes of their inner distress.
When working with couples, Dr. Farrell applies her specialized training in the Gottman Method to help them refocus conflicts and introduce more intimacy and empathy into their relationships. In addition, Dr. Farrell has conducted extensive clinical research in the areas of romantic relationship functioning, adult attachment style and positive psychology. She also has a successful track record of working with clients from diverse backgrounds and sexual orientations.
